GENESIS PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING

The automotive media is anticipating the release of the 2022 Genesis GV70. Consumer Reports writes: “The GV70 gives the fledgling luxury brand a vital entry into the compact SUV market. Based on our experience with the GV80, we are enthusiastic about the prospect of the GV70 disrupting the established competition, even though it’s quite late to the game.”

Powering the 2022 Genesis GV70 is a standard turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower in the GV80. Buyers can upgrade to a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that generates 375 hp in the GV80. We’ll know more about the powertrain specs as we get closer to the release date.

Car and Driver tested the twin-turbo powerplant in the GV80 and clocked the zero-to-60 mph sprint at 5.3 seconds. Since the GV70 is a smaller SUV, we expect it to be faster than its sibling. Drivers can choose from four driving modes: eco, comfort, sport and custom. The GV70’s optional Sport Package adds a fifth driving mode, called Sport Plus.

UNCOMPARABLE TECHNOLOGY BUILT IN

Several new Innovative technology features will grace the 2022 Genesis GV70, including a fingerprint authentication system. As of this writing, Genesis hasn’t revealed the functions this system will provide. However, reports have indicated it will let drivers utilize Genesis CarPay, which allows drivers to pay for things like parking and gas from inside the vehicle.

Another advanced tech feature is called Advanced ROA (which stands for Rear Occupant Alert). Advanced ROA uses cabin-mounted radar sensors to check whether there are passengers in the rear seat. It can detect when rear passengers move their arms and legs, and it can even sense respiratory movements near the passenger’s chest to alert the driver that a sleeping infant or child was left in the seat.
